The article reviews the processes of transformation in the Bulgarian army in the period 1914‐1918. The transformation in the Bulgarian army in the years of the First World War is a continuous process aiming to adapt the troops to the contemporary requirements for conducting the combat operations. Two trends in this transformation are highlighted in the paper: a reduction in the number of combat parts in relation to the reduction of Bulgaria's human reserves and the offsetting of this reduction by the reinforcement of the firepower of troops by saturation with automatic weapons and modern artillery.
